What We Do

GRIP's programs strategically create opportunities for youth and Christian adults to connect and develop Life-on-Life relationships.

CONNECTION POINTS

SLAM

SLAM is a high-energy sports and team-building outreach program that runs every Monday night. Throughout the year, hundreds of youth come to SLAM engaging in fun games, team sports, Bible teaching, small group discussions, and lots of hugs!

SLAM creates the perfect environment for our team of dedicated volunteers to start building meaningful Life-on-Life relationships with our teens–and these relationships don’t stop there!

Our volunteers spend double the amount of Life-on-Life hours with youth outside of SLAM as compared to inside, intentionally targeting areas of academics,
life-skills, spiritual development, family, and fun.

Expanding beyond the borders of Chicago, GRIP has trained churches and organizations on Life-on-Life discipleship and on how to launch an effective SLAM program–multiplying the number of Life-on-Life relationships with this next generation.

Come join us for a tour of SLAM at Moody Bible Institute’s Solheim Center to see our flagship program in action! Contact us to schedule a visit, or sign up to volunteer.

GRIP The School

GRIP The School (GTS) is an initiative dedicated to assisting Chicago’s under-resourced public schools. GTS mobilizes and trains local churches and volunteers to serve the practical needs of the school while walking Life-on-Life with youth. Based upon your unique interests, skill sets, and availability, there are multiple opportunities to volunteer each week while investing in the lives of Chicago youth within public schools.

As GTS mobilizes churches to serve local schools, hallways are saturated with people and resources to meet the practical needs of the school. GTS connects volunteers to teach after-school courses, assist teachers and administrators both inside and outside of the classroom, implement security, orchestrate school-wide assemblies, lead small group lunchroom discussions, teach the creative arts, coach sports teams, and connect students with positive extracurricular activities,
such as our SLAM program.

GRIP not only has presence in three of Chicago’s under-resourced high schools, but also continues to train dozens of churches and youth organizations throughout the city and elsewhere to engage public schools within their communities–resulting in the further growth of Life-on-Life relationships.
