Streetlights

Areas of Service:

Streetlights is the world's first urban audio Bible—word-for-word Scripture set to hip-hop beats. Our desire is that people of all literacy levels would be able to hear, understand, and internalize the Word of God. A massive undertaking, we are producing Streetlights in thematic sections of Scripture accompanied by music videos, written curriculum, and more.

Audio content for the first volume, "Divine DNA," which  includes Genesis 1-6 and the entire Gospel of John, is now available for FREE, and chronicles creation, the fall of man, and redemption. Check out the Streetlights website, like us on Facebook, and follow us on Twitter for updates on the project, free audio downloads, and information on how you can give to Streetlights to help us produce additional resources.

The Problem: Biblical Illiteracy
Streetlights is a Bible for this generation. At a national level, a staggering 50 million Americans—many of whom are youth and young adults—cannot read past the fourth-grade level. And because the majority of modern Bible translations are written at a seventh-grade level or above, those who struggle with illiteracy cannot read, understand, or apply the truths of God’s Word.

The Solution: Streetlights
Combining the word-for-word Scripture in the New Living Translation (NLT) with a dynamic score influenced by the cultures of the inner city, Streetlights is the fruit of a strategic partnership between GRIP, the nonprofit record label Humble Beast, and Tyndale House Publishers. Through this relevant and engaging format, top recording artists and accomplished music producers present listeners with the authentic Word of God recited to industry-standard, street-credible beats.
